Hi,
I’ve been hearing a lot lately from Google about real-time indexing and how it would affect the SERP. I think there’s going to be a clash between site speed and relevance. I hope that relevancy still matters in the end.

I have read recently on the Google blog that Google have finally made changing to search algorithm in English on Google.com which will take into consideration the speed of the site. Welcome back, Ching Ya!
As much as I wanted to look good in the eyes of Google (like most webmasters and bloggers do), these “hidden signs” whether it becomes true or not are going completely overboard. I hate to think that Google isn’t just monopolizing the web but manipulative of those who abide. I hope I’m wrong…

Hmm.. I just wonder how would Google define ‘fast’ if it is to be used as one of the page ranking criteria? It’s getting more ‘invisible’ than ever on how they determine PRs. As much I prefer a fast loading page, but I just can’t help but feel a bit uncomfortable with all of the new ‘warnings’. Does content and real values mean anything anymore? h

You have a good point however there are blogs especially larger ones that are hosted on dedicated servers and bloggers that can really afford expensive hosting. I just hope that Google would really look into it on a more humane perspective.

If Google push that idea then that will be a democratic issue for shared hosting owner. Hopefully, this idea would simply stay in the minds of some within their ranks otherwise if this becomes a permanent ranking factor, I can’t imagine advertisers maximizing on banner placements would react and this could also cause profits to deplete for many websites.

I'm not all that fussed. I've stopped worrying about what Google though ages ago. I couldn't care less if they downgraded me because they thought my blog loaded too slowly. Caffeine wouldn’t be felt until 2010 but I’m hopeful that it shouldn’t drastically surprise each one of us with some extreme changes in Pagerank not to mention site speed being a ranking factor for PR and SERPs although we still don’t know if Google will push through with the idea however anticipating the possibilities could prepare us for what’s going to come.
