As a follow-up on my post about PrivacyHarbor’s Beacon Desktop Notifier, I was able to test run the desk top in full blast and let me show you the screenshots I’ve taken while using it so you know what to expect.
First, when you visit the site, there’s the newly added downloads option within the services tab where you can download the desktop software.
However, after trying to download the software a couple of times, it was not working but instead it gave me an error like the one below:
I decided to just log-in to my account instead and like I said on my earlier post, a message popped-up into my screen inviting me download the software which I did (see message below).
I’m not sure why it didn’t work when I tried to download it without logging-in.
After downloading the email notifier, I tried sending an email from my hosting account to my PrivacyHarbor email. The email arrived in my inbox at about a minute and 52 seconds but was filtered by the Spam Guard and since emails caught by the latter is only sent twice a day by default and I didn’t bother to set it, I simply white listed the email address and tried resending again.
It quickly arrived.
Take a look at the slide show of the screenshots I have attached.
It’s really efficient and secure while at the same time uncompromising your experience. The file download size is just 22.4MB so it’s pretty small and works on most OS except for Mac OS X.
The message pop-up was non-obtrusive; it resembles that of Window’s balloon notification normally found on the system tray.
I’m still working with it and trying to discover something new. If there’s anything I might have missed, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment.
