Cloud file sharing definitely revolutionizes the way data are distributed and shared. While only a few startups can actually deliver what they promise, HostedFTP once again proves that they are never far behind the leaders in the industry.

When some older companies don’t walk what they talk, and just do their marketing with so much hype that everyone thinks they are the best when in reality they are not yet their so-called “cloud servers” are slower than a fat turtle, (yes, that’s true, just read my review about dropping dropbox for good and SpiderOak just can’t deliver either, I’ve tried them and geez…you know it) then it has proven true that precious gems are really hard to find but once you’ve found it, there’s simply no letting go.

The same goes with a great service provider and in the case of file sharing in the cloud, HostedFTP is a gem that is left to be discovered but nevertheless this gem never seize to amaze as it unveils after a month-long wait, the winners of their giveaway.

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of TrainingVOD. All opinions are 100% mine.

Online training videos have never been so compelling and precise that it’s almost perfect to tell that watching every single course on TrainingVOD is crafted to surpass viewer expectations.

I have seen countless business training videos on every single website on the internet including those that have been adopted offline by some companies. But, I have never found an amazing resource of remarkable corporate and personal training videos that are concise, enticing and very informative as TrainingVOD.

With over 50 years of solid experience, business experts and consultants from Fortune 500 companies and start-ups gather together to create stunningly intelligent videos at small business prices for as low as $19.99 a month which allows you to gain access to over hundreds of business videos and 500 software courses, when you need it and where you need it.

Compared to typical how-to or training type videos, TrainingVOD video courses are optimized for maximum execution which means that it discusses each topic concisely and directly while at the same time considering your attention span so you wouldn’t feel bored or sleepy while viewing. After watching a course about setting Smart Goals, I have proven that it could almost make you feel like you’re part of a big training event. In fact, it even keeps you wanting to watch for more.

The videos are top-notch and are presented professionally, a caliber that only the best and the brightest trainers, not just ordinary video creators are behind each course.

Training DVDs and other online courses costs as much as $300-1,000 per DVD which is contrary to the cost-effective solution offered by TrainingVOD for most small and medium-sized businesses per course, topic, or both.

If you’re a business owner or somebody who’s planning to start a new venture or just simply wanting to get some free business skills training, then you are in for a draw to win $400 worth of free one year membership access to all business skills courses at TrainingVOD.

All you have to do is share this post on Twitter and/or Facebook and leave a comment below if you have done so. Each action entitles you an entry for the drawing wherein the winner will be announced on this page after a month. Every nationality can join. Regular paid membership to TrainingVOD however, is open only for US residents at the moment.

“You Gotta See This” Video Contest Winners Revealed

May 1, 2010 | By | 2 Replies More

Reading time: 2 – 4 minutes

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Incendia Health. All opinions are 100% mine.

After months of waiting, finally, Abbott Medical Optics Inc. (AMO), a global leader in laser vision correction procedure, has announced the winning entries on the “You Gotta See This Video Contest”, an iLASIK Video Contest which was posted on this site back in November 2009. The purpose of the contest is to showcase the results of the iLASIK procedure and how it has dramatically improved their lives through better vision.

The entrants were requested to share their experiences in a video format in order to join the competition for a chance to win cash and prizes including the top prize of five grand which is approximately the cost of an iLASIK procedure.

The Grand Prize of $5,000 is won by Alex whose video creatively and musically portrayed his experience after he’s undergone the vision correction.

According to his video, he used to ride his bike but unfortunately had an accident which damaged his eyes thus, not enabling him to do and enjoy what he used to do until he found out about the laser eye treatment (which was iLASIK) that changed his life forever.

As a result, he no longer wears eye glasses and can now enjoy riding his bike like he used to. The video really captured the main theme of the contest and is really deserving aside from being well put into a fancy and entertaining music video which you can view below.

For the rest of the winning entries, you can find them at You might also wish to register on the site to receive valuable eye care products.

It was indeed a very successful contest and I personally would like to congratulate the winners of this recently concluded iLASIK Video Contest as well as Abbot Medical Optics Inc. You guys did a fantastic job!

Did you enjoy watching the videos like I do? What do you think of the winning videos? Whose story struck you the most and why?

Enjoy Anonymous Browsing with VPN

February 10, 2010 | By | 20 Replies More

Reading time: 3 – 4 minutes

The demands of getting a highly secured internet browsing experience are increasing overtime that’s why the need for a VPN service (Virtual Private Network) is becoming necessary.

The purpose of securing a Virtual Private Network generally advocates privacy and as proven extension of a private network from an unsafe network such as the internet which ensure encryption of data between two points through a secured tunnel.

Virtual Private Network

VPN also separates traffic of different user communities over a network with strong security features such as those sites that block access from certain geo-locations.

VPNs, therefore, allows you to surf the web invisibly and securely without a trace and without being tracked. It normally works with any of the programs installed on your PC such as chat clients, email and browsers for maximum protection.

With VPN service, you can access geo-restricted sites such as Hulu, Pandora, BBC iPlayer etc. using servers from US and UK even while traveling, hide yourself from internet monitoring or web filtering applications, protects your computer and network from hackers, streaming videos and downloading, unblock the web from anywhere and bypass internet censorship.

Although there are many advantages of using VPN, you must be aware that VPNs may break terms of service because of access to restricted sites and can slow down direct access to network so responsible use is recommended.

Official List of New Year Giveaway Winners

January 1, 2010 | By | 31 Replies More

Reading time: 3 – 4 minutes

Happy New Year to all! It’s indeed of great excitement to announce the names of the winners for the New Year Giveaway which started last 22nd until 31st December 2009. These guys are randomly picked based on their prize of preference and were able to enter the giveaway simply by leaving a comment, tweeting, becoming a fan of Software Critics on Facebook and subscribing to the newsletter.

Without further a do, here are the lucky winners:

GilsSilva – SnapABug Pro Account
Rimed – VisualCron Business/Commercial license (Prize is null and void) – Sponsor backed out
Amir Aizudin – Email Marketing Software from Gammadyne
mohsen – Clyton Email Client
LittleDanniel – Televiewer paid license
David – Windows Automation software Professional license
Saw90 – Windows Automation software Professional license
Lisa R – Windows Automation software Professional license
James Moralde – IP Privacy Pro
Francis – IP Privacy Pro

Congratulations to all the winners. Please wait for my email as I deliver them to you.

Since there are no entries for both SyncMate Personal courtesy of SyncMate (One of two licenses) and Laptop Alarm software (one of five licenses for the entire duration of the giveaway, these licenses have been decided to be given out on a first-come first-served basis simply by leaving your comment and interest in trying out the software.

Update: 03 Jan 2010

VisualCron backed out after finding out that the winner’s email above matched with that of their existing reseller. That I could not claim but for the benefit of fairness, I have voided and nulled the said prize.

I have no idea at all when I picked the winner at random that he was a reseller. I personally don’t even know him. However, I still feel bad about doing it because first, my only intention is to give a prize via this giveaway and whoever wins must get it and I certainly have no control and don’t even care what the winner will do with their prize. It’s all up to them. However, the above sponsor’s thinking is otherwise and that I’m forced to set my rules on this giveaway and my contest.

The winner may or may not be a reseller of the sponsor-VisualCron but if the winner really is then I’m not in any way liable to any of their internal affairs if that’s the case because it seems that the sponsor is trying to manipulate the giveaway’s rules which I could not allow.

They wanted me to give them the entrants email addresses so they could pick the winner themselves but I thought it was way beyond privacy. When I sent them the winner’s email, that’s when they started doubting the intention of the winner being a reseller (if he/she was) to sell the software in return.

I don’t know where this thinking of them is coming from but I’m not buying it. They should have had their own giveaway instead of participating here if that’s what they intend.

All I ever wanted was to have a giveaway but it seems that some party is dragging this to a mess and I will not allow it to happen.

I’m sorry this note has to be written right here but I feel it’s a must that everyone should know.

Thank you guys for participating in the giveaway. I wish you all a Happy New Year!
